Give Year 2 Students the Support They Need: Online Teaching Until We’re Enrolled

We ask the university to temporarily move teaching online until all Year 2 students are fully enrolled, have received their funding and have access to Moodle, timetables and essential learning materials. Students should not be academically or financially disadvantaged because of delays in the university’s enrolment and administrative processes.

Why is this important?

I am a Year 2 nursing student, and although I do not have children or a mortgage, I have still been financially struggling because of the delays to our enrolment and funding. I have reached one of the lowest points I have experienced since I was 16. The uncertainty over when I will receive my money, combined with not having full access to Moodle, timetables and learning materials, has caused an enormous amount of stress and has taken a real toll on my wellbeing.

I have reached a point where I have very little money left and genuinely do not know how I am going to manage until my funding comes through. I cannot imagine the additional pressure this situation is putting on students who have children, rent or mortgages, bills and other people depending on them.

We should not have to choose between being able to afford essential living costs and being able to attend university. Moving teaching online temporarily would allow us to continue our education while giving the university time to resolve the enrolment and funding issues that are outside of students’ control. We are asking to be supported through this situation, not disadvantaged by it.
