Grant Iyad Burnat, award winning peace activist and author, a UK visa

Once again the British gov't are attempting to stifle the Palestinian voice. Iyad Burnat has been denied a visitors visa to enter the UK and discuss his life and work. We are demanding that they overturn this decision.

Why is this important?

Iyad Burnat is a non-violent peace activist in the West Bank village of Bil'in. He is a well respected human being who has received awards and recognition for his work. The British gov't can not be allowed to continue their attempts to silence the legitimate criticism of the Israeli occupation and those who spend their lives struggling against it.

Reasons for signing

  • I saw the moving film made by his brother. This is a good man whose voice needs to be heard.
  • I have met this guy and know that he has campaigned non-violently against Israeli occupation and land theft. He is exactly the sort of person whom the British Government ought to be encouraging, rather than kowtowing to Israeli lobbyists. If the West will not treat a non-violent activist fairly, it contributes to the cycle of frustration and violence within the region.
  • It's disgraceful that the Home Office has refused this man a visa for a book tour of the UK. As a non-violent campaigner, he should be welcomed and supported.
