HELP PVT. W. TONGS TO BE AWARDED THE VICTORIA CROSS

The Right Hon. Ben Wallace MP
Private William Tongs DCM, undertook 9 acts of bravery in 1915. There is sufficient evidence to show that she should have been awarded the Victoria Cross. In 1919, the MOD made an order to stop issuing any further awards of medals after that date in World War 1. Consequently, the Awards Committee, cannot pass upon the compelling issues or the ample evidence that we have researched. Pvt W. Tongs's burial records show that he was awarded the Victoria Cross. This was carried out by the War Graves Commission in 1920. We have the original records, and extracts of the War Diaries including substantial other reasons, as to why Pte. Tongs should have been awarded the Victoria Cross.

Why is this important?

Each year, on November 11th., we all remember the veterans who died for their country. During the First World War, Private W. Tongs was killed undertaking 9 acts of bravery, each act deserved the Victoria Cross, but due to bureaucratic failure, it was overlooked and not issued, despite being recorded on his Government Burial Certificate 5 years after the event, as can be seen in the website:- www.tongsvc.co.uk
