Hillingdon's Hyper Scale Data Centres

Hillingdons Hyper Scale Data Centres
Slow down the knee jerk reaction to the development of data centres.

Why is this important?

Communities around Heathrow airport are already suffering with drought and excess temperatures. The development covertly happening in Hillingdon is unsustainable and damaging to our communities.

Anti-datacentre sentiment is growing from across the political spectrum in the US.

More than a dozen states have considered moratoria on datacentres. New York became the first US state to enact a temporary ban last month. If they can say no, so can we.

Hillingdon is one of Londons greenest boroughs. However we are already classified by the Environment Agency as "seriously water stressed". Data centres heavily exacerbate this pressure.

The data centres will raise local temperatures making already raised climate crises temperatures even hotter and more unbearable, also putting us at further risk of wild fires in our parks, gardens and green spaces.

I’m a keen gardener and in the ten years I’ve lived in the area I’ve seen my garden go from wet clay most the year round to now parched and thirsty most of the year.

The water and electricity consumption of these centres will no doubt lead to raised utility bills at a time when people are already struggling to meets rising costs of living.
