I object to our armed forces and Trident coming under EU control.

Tell the truth about the EU army. There is no such thing. It is a cover up pretending that we are co-operating with the EU's defence . It is no such thing. They are placing all our troops and equipment under EU control.

Why is this important?

The EU could use our troops and equipment, including the trident missiles without asking our permission. Brexit, if it happens, will make no difference. only a huge protest will.
