Increase Carers Allowance in line with cost of living

To claim Carer's Allowance of roughly £70/week, the carer has to be caring for someone for at least 35 hours a week. If the carer earns more than £127/ week ( including pensions) they are not eligible to claim.
This means that carers are receiving approximately £2 per hour for the care they are providing. This needs to be increased to equate to a fair amount. At least the minimum wage.

Why is this important?

Millions of Informal carers are providing an invaluable service to the people for whom they care. Many at their own expense. £2/ hour is an insult. Many carers are on duty 24/7/365.
Carers should be able to claim an amount at least equivalent to minimum wage.
