Increase mileage payments in line with rising fuel costs
Driving is an essential part for many jobs in the UK. Certain jobs come with the expectation that the employee will drive for example; care workers. For a carer visiting many people a day it is expected that they will drive, enabling them to do their job in a timely manner. For this employers can pay a milage allowance. Before it becomes tax deductible for the employer the rate is 45p per mile as set by the government.
This is no longer sufficient given the rising cost of fuel.
I live in a semi rural area. I work for a department of children's services. I am a family key worker and it is getting to a point were I am considering changing my job as it is not looking financial viable to visit families in their homes for 45p a mile. I can not absorb the rising cost of fuel in order to do a statutory job.
Please increase the set mileage allowance payment of 45p.

Why is this important?
Why should employees that drive as part of their daily job absorb the rising cost of fuel. The government should increase the mileage allowance payment of 45p. Why should carers, social workers, health visitors, district nurses absorb this rising cost. Sign the petition for change.
