Justice for Yvonne Mosquito

• Mr Jamieson’s resignation as Police and Crime Commissioner and to step aside as Labour Candidate for re-election.
• The reinstatement of Mrs Mosquitto as Deputy Police Crime and Commissioner and a Public Apology.
• Jeremy Corbyn to intervene on this matter as Labour Leader and with a thorough and independent investigation into the professional conduct of Mr Jamieson.

Why is this important?

Justice For Yvonne Mosquito

The Background to the harassment and bullying of Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner Yvonne Mosquito.

On the evening of Thursday 24th March, we learnt of the suspension of the Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner Yvonne Mosquito. Over recent months, the relationship between the Police and Crime Commissioner David Jamieson and Yvonne Mosquito has been strained, he has embarrassed her publicly in front of her peers and subordinates.

In recent weeks, there has been speculation that Mr Jamieson is seeking to remove Yvonne Mosquito as his Deputy. In terms of the forthcoming elections (Thursday 5th May) he failed to endorse her as his running mate or indeed his potential deputy, should he be successful. Although he has the choice to choose his running mate, his behaviour this reinforces the view that there is a breakdown in the relationship rather that her performance.

It is understood that following a visit to a bereaved family to pay her condolences and pray with the family Mrs Mosquito was immediately suspended for interfering with a Police Murder Investigation. This statement was issued by Johnathon Jardine Chief Executive of the Police and Crime Commissioner’s Office:

“Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner Yvonne Mosquito has been suspended from her post with immediate effect. An internal investigation is underway into potential gross misconduct following concerns raised about interference into operational policing regarding an on-going serious investigation.”

It should be noted that Mrs Mosquito is also the elected Councillor for the Nechells Ward which is within the Ladywood District and also an Ordained Minister. The leak to the press raises major concerns as to the true intentions of Mr Jamieson intentions his heavy-handed decision making and approach by not only suspending Mrs Mosquito but also to commence a trial by media.
Mrs Mosquito’s salary has been emphasised on many occasions in the media which is actually £10,000 less the assessed £75,000 a reduction Mrs Mosquito agreed to take. However, there is never any emphasis placed on the commissioner’s salary of £100,000.

Furthermore, the media has continued to print a constant barrage of negative stories regarding Mrs. Mosquito and her family. This is both unacceptable and intrusive, however, it would not have come to light, had Mr Jamieson not taken the story to the press himself in the first instance.

When Black people from the African and Caribbean Community have any kind of authority, the system (structural and institutional racism) seeks to destroy them, hence, the lack of Black representation within these spaces, which, yet again, is threatened and attacked.

Who are we?
We are the local community both Black and White the electorate who voted for Mr Jamieson and are both outraged and deeply disappointed by his unprofessional behaviour and the levels of contempt display to an employee and fellow labour colleague.

What do we want?
We demand the following with immediate effect:

• The reinstatement of Mrs Mosquitto as Deputy Police Crime and Commissioner and a Public Apology.

Thank you to all of you who have supported the campaign by signing the petition. Without your support, this could not have been achieved and it is both valued and appreciated.

Please continue to share the petition, though the support thus far has been outstanding a petition of this nature with just a few hundred signatures means very little to the decision makers, thousands of signatures means that the powers that be will take notice and be forced to acknowledge the overwhelming public support for Yvonne Mosquito.

The heat is already turning up on Mr Jamerison as he is challenged to be open and transparent about the both the process and procedures he used in suspending Yvonne.
