Keep The Hole In The Roof Open!

We would like Dover District Council to relook into their decision to serve a Noise Abatement Order on The Hole In The Roof. To further investigate the situation and work with the premises and the neighbours to lead to a better solution to the situation.

Why is this important?

The Noise Abatement Order served on The Hole In The Roof will have a dramatic impact on the premises itself, its' staff and its' customers. The premises has operated as a late night, entertainment venue with local and nationally known acts/DJ's. Within Deal itself (and the wider area) there is a distinct lack of music venues and/or safely operated premises which can offer the style of entertainment The Hole In The Roof has provided.

If the Noise Abatement Order continues to over rule the use of music in the premises, the foreseeable future of the premises will be in jeopardy. Staff members have become affected by the change already, some have lost their positions already, some have lost hours, and in the near future it is possible that their will be further losses.

Customers have noticed the change and will lose out on The Hole In The Roof bringing local and nationally known acts (such as, The Hoosiers, Wheatus, Reef, Vernon Kay, etc) to the town, providing a much needed source of entertainment for the community.
The Hole In The Roof did have plans in place for 2017 which involved many more groups, DJ's and entertainers. However, due to the Noise Abatement Order, these plans have all been dropped or placed on hold.

The Hole In The Roof is a leading member of DPAC (Dover Protection Against Crime) and prides itself on it's excellent door staff and safe premises. There are no licencing issues with the site and the numbers who frequent the premises are a sign of its' popularity.
The premises was originally built in 1694, and over time it was since demolished and rebuilt a few feet back from it's original position to widen the road around it. The pub has been a staple of Deal's nightlife and drinking culture for many years and has undergone many changes.

Thank you to all those who have signed our petition so far, please keep sharing.
We have had a great amount of support for the situation we are in and we appreciate it massively.
The courts have now received all relevant paperwork and we are awaiting our court date in order to fight the abatement order. We have been advised it will be at least 6 weeks before we should expect a date.

We have a paper version of this petition in The Hole In The Roof for anyone to sign. Please see a member of staff.
We also have letters of concern addressed to Dover District Council for anyone who would like to sign, these will be sent at the expense of The Hole In The Roof as seperate petitions/appeals.
At the moment we have currently just started the appeal process and are putting together our case with legal support. A court appeal will be decided once we have submitted our finalised appeal. We will update with further news.
