Keep outdoor areas for Royal parade businesses #dontspoiltheroyal

Firstly thank you bromley council for allowing our hospitality businesses on royal parade to have select parking bays suspended and outdoor seating to be put in place for our customers. It has been a great help in encouraging people to sit outdoors throughout the summer and feel we are doing our part in keeping with covid guidelines. It has given the local community of all ages the confidence to dine and socialise outside without the increased chance of transmission indoors. The suspension of the parking bays has significantly increased moral in the community along with a list of benefits which include:
•Outdoor seating encouraging people to sit outside which helps with reducing covid transmissions
•Significantly lower traffic for parking (less congestion)
•Locals walking to the parade instead of driving which in turn cuts down emissions! Zero emissions which goes hand in hand with conservation
•Increased moral amongst the community
•Beautiful surroundings with planters which have been potted with colourful plants by the business owners keeping with chislehurst being a conservation area
•Increased footfall from the public who would never before stop at royal parade as there wasn't a draw to the parade.
•Generated jobs through increased footfall which in turn has required businesses to employ more staff
We understand that there has been some opposition from some businesses and locals initially but change is never easy and we feel the businesses and the public have adapted and welcomed the outdoor spaces. The parade is more alive than ever and it would be devastating to some businesses and locals who have become accustomed to such wonderful surroundings made possible by the council.
