Kincora - The Scandal of Child Abuse in Northern Ireland

Dear Minister,
I ask that the the investigation of historic child abuse linked to those in positions of power and authority be extended to include the crimes committed at Kincora children's home in Belfast. There were three convictions at the time, but no satisfactory investigation into allegations of links to the establishment. The details of the case are well documented, but the initial enquiry under Jim Prior, Secretary of State for Northern Ireland at the time, failed as those appointed to the panel withdrew following claims that the police had refused to fully investigate allegations. Many children were repeatedly exposed to predatory paedophiles, but the question as to why it was allowed to happen and for so long has not been answered. Please give them the answers they deserve,
Yours Sincerely,
Paul Devlin

Why is this important?

Northern Ireland, although part of the United Kingdom, is in large part under the control and influence of a relatively small number of parties with vested interests. The only chance of justice for the victims of child abuse at Kincora is an independent and external inquiry that will establish the facts without fear of external influence.
