Let’s get Stu Allan recognised

Since the 1980’s Stu Allan has championed dance music across various platforms, including his various radio shows on Manchesters Piccadilly Key 103. He was originally filling in for the regular DJ on a 6-week vacation, but the reaction was so great from listeners that he was signed on permanently. He began featuring hip-hop and house. "Love Can't Turn Around" by Farley Jackmaster Funk was the first record Allan played on the radio. This track got the attention of the people in charge of the station and Allan was asked to explain why he was playing this "music". He said he believed this was what listeners really wanted to hear. I’m doing so, he played a major role in bringing House music to the attention of people in the North-West of
England. Stu deserves the recognition as
a DJ when it comes his contribution to the evolution of the UK House scene.

Why is this important?

As an important supporter of local acts from diverse backgrounds, in addition to many of the groundbreaking early American Trax and DJ International releases were first aired by Stu, who would later champion local acts like A Guy Called Gerald, 808 State and T Coy. Even the name A Guy Called Gerald (accidentally) resulted from Stu – when playing a cassette of one of Gerald’s tunes, before he even had a record deal, Stu introduced the track as ‘by a guy called Gerald from Hulme’!
