Lower the threshold needed for prosecution in child sexual abuse cases
The threshold that needs to be reached in order to prosecute paedophiles and anyone who has committed any sexual abuse on a child should be lowered.
A very high rate of cases of child sexual abuse are concluded as NFA due to the threshold needed for the CPS or prosecution. Despite evidence of sexual abuse taking place because of the unattainable level of evidence needed for the criminal threshold too many people are getting away with what they have done. This can also lead to them re abusing their victim or another victim.
We need to start listening to genuine concerns from any parent or professional who raises any concerns for sexual abuse on any child especially if they have evidence.
Any evidence should be enough to end this awful abuse to any child but if it does not fit the level needed then the victims have no justice for the abuse they have endured.
We need to also listen to children who have bravely spoken out about their own abuse and to not dismiss them, this is a common reoccurrence and this later stops children from speaking out for fear that they will not be believed.
For those innocent children that are unable to voice what is going on, we need to be their voices and we need to be listened to. Too many perpetrators are getting away sexual abuse and almost always go on to continue to abuse other children because they think and know they can get away with it.
Sexual abuse to children can affect their lives massively. Children are more likely to turn to alcohol and drugs for coping mechanisms, have eating disorders, split personality disorders, depression and anxiety, trust issues and even suicide.
If there is any evidence of sexual abuse that does not meet the threshold for criminal conviction then this needs to be lowered. I feel, as do many others that this is still evidence that such things are happening and isn’t taken seriously. Lowering the threshold for what’s needed to prosecute would save so many children from further abuse and even save lives.

Why is this important?
I would like other people to join me in my campaign because it is close to home and I want to be able to protect my children and many others out there from further sexual abuse or any potential abuse from happening.
Most child sexual abuse cases never end in prosecution because the level of evidence that is needed is far too high and unattainable even if there is clear cut evidence that this kind of abuse has happened. I was told that just because someone is not prosecuted does not mean that it didn’t happen, and this is the issue. The fact that it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen should be enough for some level of prosecution.
We need to protect our children and others from sexual abuse. It is unfortunately very common and in order to make a change lowering the threshold needed needs to happen to protect and save so many innocent children.
Please join me in trying to make this change
