Make overbooking of flights illegal

As one of seven people bumped from a flight from Heathrow to Hamburg, I am standing at the ticket desk with the other passengers. Eurowings are only offering single seats on different flights over the next 36 hours. This is woefully inadequate when there is a family of three where the child is only five years old. The practice of speculation that there will be about 5% of passengers failing to arrive so selling extra tickets on the off chance is appalling profiteering and needs to be stopped.

Why is this important?

We are all paying more for our tickets to cover the cost of the compensation package for passengers bumped due to the greed of the airlines. If they ditched this practice, our tickets (and journeys) would be more agreeable.
