Milton Keynes, rethink the bins

We are asking the Council to rethink the plan to switch rubbish collection to four large bins per household in the areas of Milton Keynes that have Victorian terraces and similar streets.

We want a general alternative for these areas, not one that depends on individuals requesting an alternative, as the bins will cause general problems on our streets:
• There is inadequate or no space for bins in front gardens or on pavements because of the nature of Victorian terraces;
• Pavements may well be rendered impassable or very problematic for pedestrians, especially the disabled, elderly and carers of babies/young children;
• The bins will be an extreme visual detriment to our treasured Conservation/Heritage areas;
• Inability to manage such large bins if householders are disabled or elderly, or just smaller and less strong than average;
• Potential loss of garden space in already tiny front gardens (an environmental loss);
• At this stage, it is unsatisfactory for areas like ours to be unclear as to what alternatives there may be (if any).

Why is this important?

This petition was started by Wolverton people, but please sign if you live in a similar area, if you support our objections, or if you value the historic towns of Milton Keynes.
