No Derby Child Goes Hungry

we won!

We, the undersigned, make the following demands:

1: That the Derby City Council releases funds from its spendable reserves to provide supermarket vouchers for families currently in receipt of free school meals (FSM).

The vouchers will provide food for families entitled to FSMs during the 14 weekdays of the school holiday that the Conservative government's Holiday Activity And Food (HAF) Programme fails to provide for.

2: That the entire body of city councillors will issue an apology to the city of derby for their failure:

(i) To give a timely alert to families about the changes that the Conservative government had made to FSM provision during the school holidays;

(ii) Not challenging the Secretary of State for Education, Gavin Williamson, about the inadequacies of the HAF programme.

Why is this important?

This matters because, without the added food vouchers, families on low incomes in Derby will struggle to feed their children this summer. No child should go hungry in our city this summer.
