Nurses do not need to have University training!

Look at the possibility of reverting nurse training to "apprenticeship" with one month each year in the classroom. The rest of the time learning on site on the wards mentored by ward managers who KNOW their speciality.

Why is this important?

I trained as a nurse and qualified in 1967. This was how I was trained. It would remove the need for Agency staff and thereby save millions! I am concerned that standards of care are falling because of volume of patients, plus lack of supervision/knowledge by ward managers! You do not need a degree to Care, and that will never change with technology. Having spoken to other nurses of my era we all feel the same. Hunt is not listening!
