OBJECTION TO THE CLOSURE OF DR JOHNSON AVENUE AND NO RIGHT TURN INTO ELMBOURNE ROAD
We STRONGLY OPPOSE to the CLOSURE OF DR JOHNSON AVENUE AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A NO RIGHT TURN INTO ELMBOURNE ROAD approaching from the junction of Tooting Bec Road & Church Lane as documented in this consultation...

Heritage Park residents were NOT INITIALLY CONSULTED by Wandsworth Council regarding this consultation even though THIS PROPOSAL WOULD HAVE AN EXTREMELY SEVERE IMPACT on them, the majority of whom frequently travel to Balham, Clapham and beyond for work and access to grocery & retail shops, restaurants, leisure facilities and other local businesses. This proposal would impact our existing quality of life.
Elmbourne Road and Dr Johnson Avenue are the two main access roads to Heritage Park, allowing access to Balham, Clapham and beyond, owners purchased properties on this understanding. Closure of Dr Johnson Ave and a no right turn into Elmbourne Road approaching from the Tooting Bec / Church Lane junction would effectively cut residents off from anywhere North of Heritage Park with the only alternatives being Eatonville Road / Upper Tooting Park via Tooting Bec Station (a route which already suffers extreme congestion) or Garrards Road which would considerably add to all journey times and cause further congestion on Bedford Hill - both would severely increase pollution.
We STRONGLY OBJECT to the proposal documented in this consultation.

Why is this important?
This proposal would have an exceptionally severe impact on residents living in Heritage Park wishing to access Balham, Clapham and beyond for both commuting and recreational purposes.
