Open the Audenshaw Reservoirs to the Public

Many reservoirs in Britain are resorts for people far & wide. Some have car parks, visitors’ centres , cream vans& even cafes! Why on earth are the ‘Audenshaw’ Reservoirs off limits to the people of Gorton? I’m told that in the past they were part of a right of way, I don’t know if that’s true. What is clear is that the reservoirs are (unofficially) well used by local walkers, dog walkers, joggers & (officially) by bird watchers. On a monthly basis United Utilities spend money repairing the fences only to have then re opened ‘unofficially’.
Just like any body of water, there are dangers if you choose to enter the water, but the sea is dangerous & the River Tame is dangerous (especially if you swallow it) but are they fenced off?
If you agree that the Audenshaw Reservoirs should be open to the public, please sign the petition.

Why is this important?

People need access to nature and to fume free exercise at no cost. The reservoirs are a great resource on our doorstep currently denied the the people of Denton.
