Provide government backed Covid insurance for the live events industry

Provide insurance for small to medium sized festivals so they can go ahead without any worries about having to cancel. Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden stated in his interview with NME that 'the Government would then “look at” if assistance was still needed for music festivals'. Small to medium festivals planned for August 2021 are now already cancelling due to uncertainty caused by the delay in lockdown easing. This will mean another summer of events will be lost to Covid.

Why is this important?

The Government has poured money into some sectors. They have allowed Ascot and other sporting events to go ahead. Organisers are not asking for handouts, just assurances that they are covered if there are further delays to lockdown easing.
