Reinstate Clive Myrie as a news reader

Clive Myrie's performance on a comedy show should not disqualify him as a newsreader.

It insults our intelligence to suggest we would assume his news reading would be biased on the basis of a few jokes.

He doesn't MAKE the news; he doesn't WRITE the news. He simply reads it.

Why is this important?

Clive Myrie deserves better treatment. This is another Gary Lineker moment. We pay the Licence fee, we can demonstrate that this removing him as a newsreader is ridiculous and unfair. Accepting this could be a step on the slope to more control over what we're 'allowed' to hear. It will intimidate other newsreaders or makers of 'serious' programmes or persuade them to desert the BBC for other, more independent channels.

What happened to freedom of expression? He told no lies, merely made a few teasing references to a disgraced politician.
