Reject licence application for Grasshoppers Club to hold outdoor music events during summer 2024

The petition was not accepted by London Borough of Hounslow Licensing as it did not include house numbers in addition to names and postcodes

Why is this important?

A licence application has been submitted to Hounslow Council for Grasshoppers Club to hold up to 10 outdoor music events:
• Between 1 May and 1 Sept 2024, on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays from 12 pm to 10.30 pm
• Live (amplified) music to be played throughout the events from an outdoor stage
• Each event would have a “maximum capacity” of 3,000 people
• Events would be held on the 2 grass rugby pitches between Wood Lane and Syon Lane
• Alcohol and food to be served from concession tents across the site

Our reasons for objecting to this licence application are:

a. The prevention of crime and disorder eg anti-social behaviour, drug and alcohol related offences are likely to be exacerbated near the venue with the influx of up to 3,000 people to the area.

b. Public safety eg our narrow and congested streets would hinder access for emergency services and local bus services; a large increase in waste disposal issues; CCTV would be necessary at all entry/exit points at the venue; a Fire Risk Assessment would be needed for each proposed event.

c. The prevention of public nuisance eg noise and/or light pollution; inconsiderate parking; poor public transport and lack of parking in the area; arguments with residents and threats to personal safety; large increase in uber drop-offs and pick-ups and associated traffic and noise before, during and after events.

d. The protection of children from harm eg moral, psychological and physical harm. Local children must be protected from harm associated directly with alcohol consumption, exposure to strong language and sexual expletives, heightened crime levels/drug dealing/use; broken sleep.

Why is this important?

The impact

We are deeply concerned at the impact of this proposal on our area eg gridlocked traffic, unbearable noise levels much of the day and evening, and the likely impact from drunk revellers.
