SAFE SCHOOL CROSSING & REDUCE THE SPEED ON CREDITON ROAD

Crediton Road is a busy, fast road and at the moment there is no safe crossing for the primary school children to use when they walk to and from school. A lot of houses have been built in the area with no safe pavements connecting them and no safe crossing. The primary school is now full with over 240 pupils, the majority of them living on the opposite side of the road from the school - so we estimate that 300-350 people cross the road at least twice a day. It is also used by the local community. The speed of the traffic is getting worse with very few vehicles travelling at the speed limit of 30mph. If Okehampton College can have a zebra crossing in a 20mph zone why can’t we? This is an accident waiting to happen and we need something put in place before it is too late.

Why is this important?

We all want to keep our children / Grandchildren safe. There have been too many accidents in Okehampton recently and we want to prevent more happening.
