Save Jackson's Lane Car Park

Save Jackson's Lane Car Park,  Wellingborough's only unrestricted car park with 24 hour access. Used by hundreds of people every day to park for work, shops, churches, schools and local services.

Why is this important?

North Northamptonshire Council has approved progressing the disposal of Jacksons Lane car park at its Executive meeting on 17 February.

Jacksons Lane is currently an operational, free town centre car park serving Wellingborough. Given the significance of this decision, we believe the issues raised in our open letter to the Council, including public consultation, enforceable guarantees regarding retained parking provision, and a clear assessment of community impact, remain highly relevant to residents and local businesses as this process moves forward.

Significant concern has been expressed by residents and representatives through surveys, correspondence and public comment. In light of this, we have launched this petition.

We call on North Northamptonshire Council to halt any progression of the disposal of Jacksons Lane car park until:

- Formal public consultation has taken place;
- Clear and enforceable guarantees are secured regarding the scale, accessibility and affordability of retained public parking provision;
- A detailed impact assessment and transparent explanation of the wider community benefit of the proposed sale are published.

Following this, the Council should strongly reconsider whether disposal of the site remains the appropriate course of action. Decisions affecting the future of a key town centre asset must be taken with full transparency and meaningful public engagement.

Please sign our petition to show North Northamptonshire Council that Residents Say No.
