Save Manston Airport
compulsory purchase order and refuse planning for building on it
Why is this important?
RAF manston has history dating back to the 1st world war, it has been used for training for the handley page bombers 1915 to 1916 by 1917 the Royal Flying core
were taking active part in defence of England.
The Zeppelin raids were less effective on England due to manston RFC's presence at manston.
Barnes Wallace used the base to test his boucing bombs at Reculver prior to the Dambuster raid. it was used as a emergency landing base for planes returning badly damaged during the 2nd world war.
during the cold war the Americans used it as Strategic Air command base, this airfield has served and is loved by many it has a spitfire and hurrican museum
it was used for airshows and on the day it closed a light aircraft used it to make emergency landing. It was used as air sea rescue base for years. I could go on for for ever but it was sold to A company who basically asset strips, and builds houses.
with the state of the world now, and the threat from overseas it may well be needed again in the future to proptect our country.
