Say No to Side permanent stickers on Private Hire Vehicles
Wolverhampton Private Hire Drivers are behind this petition and are urging Wolverhampton Council to revoke new rules which means all private hire drivers must display permanent stickers on the side of their vehicles. The drivers fear that taxis are becoming over-regulated.
Wolverhampton Council should REWOKE the NEW amendment in Licencing condition of PERMANENT STICKERS on our PRIVATE HIRE OWNERS vehicles!!! We Private Hire Drivers also have a private life as well that's when *OFF WORK*
*Permanent stickers impinge upon our rights to privacy and our rights to use our vehicles for social and domestic purposes*
*With permanent stickers on our vehicle we would leave ourselves open to charges of plying for hire in the event of us using our PH vehicle to pick up a friend or family member, especially if they were to keep us waiting*

Why is this important?
Privacy for private hire drivers when off work and stops our vehicles getting damaged and vandalised when parked unattended!!! *Drivers should have a choice to use magnetic decals Instead of permanent stickers*
*Ultimately it's cost private hire drivers who want to change their vehicle or change the firm they work for as the stickers can damage paintwork when being removed*
*These stickers are extremely difficult to remove once they are on and have a tendency to damage the body work of the vehicle. It could cost a driver hundreds of pounds to have a respray job on both doors every time they want to move firms or change vehicle*
"We think these are unreasonable costs being put onto the trade."
*As far as public safety is concerned, you have to prove it. You can’t just say it’s for public safety. How does it keep the public safe?”
Taxis in Wolverhampton are already well marked up. We have licenses in the front window with the plate number and a plastic plate fitted on the rear of the vehicle and are ‘easily identifiable!
We also have a ring back and text service so that a customer can be texted or called and customers get full information of the job dispatched name of driver his picture,registration number of vehicle, colour of vehicle,make and model of vehicle. What more safety do they need???
“We are pre-booked, meaning a customer can expect a certain car from a certain company only! When they do get the ring back text, they will get the details of the driver,the vehicle make and model, registration number of vehicle etc etc There’s no chance of anyone getting into the wrong car.”
