  • Stop the Cycle – Protect Passengers, Workers and Taxpayers.
We call for urgent reform to stop companies and private-equity owners from profiting when the public bears the cost of corporate collapse. The case of Greybull Capital — the investment firm behind the failures of Monarch Airlines, British Steel, Comet and My Local — exposed major gaps in UK law. • Monarch’s collapse in 2017 cost taxpayers £40 million in repatriation flights. • Comet’s insolvency left 6,600 workers redundant and £49 million in public redundancy and pension costs. • British Steel’s failure in 2019 required £300 million in government support before being sold to a foreign buyer. Yet the same firm can legally donate to political parties while its controlled companies file opaque ownership statements such as “no person with significant control” — a declaration that may breach the Companies Act 2006. We urge the Government to: 1. Reform the ATOL scheme ensuring pre-paid fares and holidays are protected, not used as working capital. 2. Tighten the People-with-Significant-Control regime – making false declarations automatically prosecutable. 3. Extend claw-back powers so that taxpayers can recover public costs from controlling investors after insolvency. 4. Reform political-donation laws to include beneficial-ownership checks for company donors. Enough is enough.  When private investors take the upside, the public should not take the downside.

  • Extension of 20mph zone, Pateley Bridge
There has been a large number of concerns and complaints raised to myself and the Council from residents who feel they are now being very threatened by fast moving vehicles putting their lives at risk walking into and out of Pateley Bridge due to the speed and close proximity of traffic outside of the current 20mph zone.  Residents have reported being hit by car mirrors, feeling intimidated by close passing vehicles on the many narrow pavements, vehicles driving on pavements, vehicles overtaking on blind bends and road rage incidents.   Cyclists and horse riders also report feeling unsafe due to speeding vehicles passing too closely with many being forced onto pavements or driveways by impatient drivers.  These behaviours are not acceptable in our respectful town; speeding vehicles are putting people at risk of serious injury and in many cases vulnerable members of our community avoiding walking into and out of town or walking to local schools.

  • Save Stanton’s Industrial Heritage - Protect 3 & 4 Lows Lane, Birthplace of British Aviation
Erewash Borough Council must immediately pause the planned demolition of 3 & 4 Lows Lane, Stanton-by-Dale - a locally listed historic building linked to aviation pioneer Hugh Oswald Short. The council should review its decision, work with Historic England to assess the building for statutory listing, and explore options to incorporate it into the Stanton Regeneration plans rather than destroy it.

  • Microsoft must continue support for windows 10
On October 14th Microsoft will end support for windows 10 and so devices will be in danger of attacks by hackers. 42 per cent of users are still using windows 10 because Microsoft demands a very high spec. for working with windows 11. In simple words Microsoft wants to force users to buy new PC's because they don't understand that PC's, laptops etc aren't expensive toys anymore, they are just things we work with everyday and we don't want to throw them away while they're still working. On the ecological side the devices contain rare metals and minerals which should all be re-cycled as well as the steel, aluminium, other metals and plastics which would otherwise be sent to useless landfill.  Millions of unuseable devices mean at least 100's of thousands of tonnes of waste going to landfill

We are calling on the governments to end the #CleftDentalCrisis by: • Improving Access: Guarantee lifelong NHS dental care for people born with a cleft. • Improving Training: Ensure every dentist receives cleft training at undergraduate level and through mandated ongoing development. • Improving Care: Strengthen multi-disciplinary working so dentistry and orthodontics are integrated in cleft treatment pathways. • Improving Transparency: Commit to regular monitoring and reporting on dental access for priority groups, including cleft. Dental care is not optional – for the cleft community, it is essential. It is time to act and fix the #CleftDentalCrisis.

  • Left Behind by the System: We Deserve Answers
We are asking for a full Article 2 inquest into the death of our family member who died while detained under the Mental Health Act. Our family deserves the truth and a fair investigation. We want answers about how our loved one was treated and why serious failings were allowed to happen. We need accountability and change so no other family goes through this pain.

  • Create an Independent Office for the Public Interest
In recent years, many high-profile public petitions have been rejected, despite the issues raised being clearly in the public interest. When the people can’t even petition their government about matters that affect them, public interest is no longer protected; it’s managed. Equally, there is growing concern with regulators and civil servants who have become an authority unto themselves, often known to “ignore inconvenient truths” raised by the public and industry about their function and direction. We need an Office for the Public Interest — an independent body with the power to step in when government departments, regulators, or public agencies act against the public good, or when petitions are rejected without fair consideration. This Office should: • Report directly to Parliament, not ministers. • Investigate conflicts of interest and regulatory capture. • Audit decisions and data that affect public welfare. • Protect whistleblowers, journalists, and citizens who raise legitimate concerns. • Publish findings openly and without political interference. Right now, the public can’t effectively hold government, regulators, or civil servants to account — and when petitions are blocked, they can’t even ask questions in the first place. It’s time to change that. An Office for the Public Interest would give citizens a voice, restore accountability, and rebuild trust in how this country is governed. Politicians claim they work for the public. Recent events suggest otherwise.

  • Restore Covid vaccinations for 70 -75 year olds and all medically vulnerable NHS patients
Restore Seasonal Covid Vaccinations to all 70-75 year olds, and to all medically Vulnerable NHS Patients. With Covid infections on the rise, these groups still need vaccinating. To have removed the roll out of  Covid vaccinations to us sends out a message that our lives are not worth saving . The cost of extending rather than reducing vaccination programmes, will be recouped from the cost of the emergency NHS and ongoing GP care we will otherwise require.

  • Let us keep our sign - The Bairns Play Cafe
We want The Bairns to keep its sign – it was designed in line with previous approvals, supports a local business using local suppliers, and helps families and parents who rely on this much-loved community space. Forcing costly changes would unfairly burden a young business that is already bringing new visitors and positive impact to Sleaford. We need NKDC to overturn their planning refusal.
