Slow Down Fast Fashion
The #SlowDownFastFashion petition calls on the UK government and fast fashion retailers to take greater responsibility for textile waste by:
1. Introducing mandatory public education on what happens to discarded old clothing, or donations from charity shops that haven’t been resold
2. Requiring fast fashion retailers to fund textile recycling and reuse schemes through Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) so burden is not placed on charity shops
3. Improve transparency around clothing disposal, to keep consumers informed

Why is this important?
1. It makes people’s everyday actions count. People think donating clothes is automatically sustainable, but a lot of the time these donations end up in landfill.
2. It pressures the right people to act
Charity shops and consumers can’t solve the fast fashion waste problem alone. This petition asks government and retailers to take responsibility.
