STAMP TAX FOR DISABLED PEOPLE BEING FORCED TO MOVE?

I want people and law-makers to consider this issue and raise their voices to reverse this unfair law.

Why is this important?

It's not just me this affects, but many, many others.

I was diagnosed with hereditary spastic paraplegia in 2018. This attacks balance and lower limb strength, rendering walking impossible. It is progressive. In 2019, I had a visit from occupational health and, because I live in a new-build flat with stud walling (too thin to hold grab-rails), stairs and no lift, I was told to seek alternative accommodation. This is extremely expensive. added to this, since the time of my diagnosis, despite over 100 applications, I have been unemployed and living off savings and govt. benefits (PIP and ESA).

Because of the cost, I have delayed buying alternative accommodation until now when I can no longer walk. I used to be a teacher. Because my wife has a house in her home country, I have to pay the higher rate of stamp tax - over £6,000. In fact, adding buying and selling fees, plus survey, just moving will cost over £14,000.
It is not a choice that I have to move. I think this is extremely unfair.
