stop employers disciplining staff for being off sick

Enact employment law changes to prevent employers from using disciplinary procedures to punish staff from being off sick
Why is this important?
The International Human Rights Charter allows everyone to right to rest from work without the fear of punishment. Current employment conditions contravene this 'enshrined' right, as when an employee misses work due to illness, they can be subjected to a disciplinary process for being off work due to the illness. Although employers try to avoid this by stating they do not care for the reasons for them being off, just the fact they were. If it is abundantly clear an employee is off for ill health and they state so, then any disciplinary action taken contravenes that individuals right to rest from work. Also the term 'rest from work' should cover illness even if a doctors certificate is not produced. Current self certification plays into the hands of employers.
