Stop parking charges by the shops in Mays Lane, Barnet
I am the owner of Mays Lane Pet Shop and have been serving the local community for 35 years. We previously had 15 free parking spaces. However, the Council has now made the road one-way, removed 10 spaces (leaving only 5), and introduced charges.
Five spaces for five shops and a supermarket is not feasible. Furthermore, the payment system relies on phone apps, which many elderly residents cannot use. While the Co-op has a small car park, it is too far for many elderly and disabled customers to walk. We are calling on the Council to reverse these changes.
Why is this important?
We need to save our local shops, not run them into the ground. These charges and the reduction in spaces are hurting local businesses and making the high street inaccessible for vulnerable residents. Please sign to tell the Council to support our community.
