End subsidised alcohol in the Houses of Parliament
Why is this important?
Did you know, alcohol for MPs and Lords is subsidised in the Houses of Parliament by taxpayers money. Last year, almost £500,000 was spent on drinks for those working in the parliamentary estate including 46,562 pints of beer and 2,800 bottles of bubbly.
Recently, Westminster ethics chief has said that the sale of alcohol in Parliament is being kept “under review”. But right now, those who have the power to end the subsidised booze do not know exactly what the public thinks of this expense.
A huge petition will show that we do not want our taxpayer money going towards discount booze when it could be better spent elsewhere such as our NHS or schools.
