STOP the installation of the sit-up bench in Arundel Square
Please sign to ensure that Islington Council is using the funding appropriately for its intended purpose, which was to benefit our older children and tweens.
Why is this important?
During the redesign of Arundel Square play facilities, extra funding was secured to provide equipment for 7-14 year olds. This funding is now being used to install a second sit-up bench adjacent to the existing workout area. This was not the intended use of the additional funds. Moreover, the existing sit-up bench is rarely used so there is no demand for a second. The proposed site is the area between the playground and the workout equipment which many families use for seating as it is shaded and has clear sight lines to the playground and the rest of the park. The installation of the sit up bench will actively disadvantage the families it was intended to support.
The equipment is due to be installed imminently so please act quickly to reconsider this use of space. Use the funding for its intended purpose - play equipment for 7-14 year olds.
