Stop Traffic Congestion upper Beauchamp Road
A proposal has been submitted to the Council, proposing a one way system and traffic calming measures. The Council has not responded to this. It has instead pressed ahead with a plan to introduce further parking restrictions.
We call on the Council to do the following:
1. Engage with residents in a broad discussion about how to tackle the traffic problems in the area. This discussion should take into serious consideration, but not necessarily be limited to, the proposal already submitted to the Council.
2. Make traffic calming measures a priority, the most effective being speed bumps

Why is this important?
The residents of 1-16 Beauchamp Road SE19 3BZ are greatly affected by the increased use of their road as a short cut. At rush hour, there are queues of idling cars that cause pollution, frequent honking of horns and occasional arguments. When the road is clear, drivers race down it at dangerous speeds. The majority of residents have had their cars damaged, more than once. The road is unsafe for pedestrians.
