We, the former pines team and those signed below, formally submit this petition to address the concerns and requests of the loyal patrons and community members of Twin Pines in light of the recent closure of the establishment.
Twin Pines has always stood as a pillar within our community, fostering connections and providing a warm and welcoming environment for all who frequented its doors. The sudden closure has not only left patrons without their beloved gathering place but has also placed the dedicated staff members in a precarious situation.
We, the patrons and concerned community members, are deeply troubled by the challenges now faced by the Twin Pines staff due to the abrupt closure and the lack of job security or compensation. We understand the complexities of business decisions, but we believe that the hardworking individuals who have contributed to the success of Twin Pines deserve fair treatment and support during this transition.
In particular, we are requesting the following:
We urge you to consider providing the staff members with a fair compensation package, taking into account their service and dedication to Twin Pines over the years. This compensation should reflect not only the financial impact but also the emotional and professional toll this closure has taken on the employees. As such we are requesting 1 month of compensatory pay (Average of last 6 months of employment or since start of employment). This is a relatively small amount for someone who has just sold their business.

Why is this important?
The current cost of living crisis and the lack of any certainty and stability has left much of the staff in an extremely precarious situation. Many hospitality workers survive paycheck to paycheck and the lack of guaranteed income is a serious concern for the livelihoods and mental health of the staff. To express your support for these requests, we kindly ask you to affix your signature below. We appreciate your attention to this matter and your commitment to the well-being of your friendly neighbourhood baristas.
