Winchester needs a functioning A & E
Winchester has a mixed population of elderly and young children. Parents need to be able to quickly transport their children in the event of an emergency. Conversely, the large elderly population need to be able to gain quick and effective access to a local A & E, particularly if they live alone. Basingstoke is some good 15-20 miles away and with an ambulance service service also under pressure transporting this distance for the local community will cause serious disruption and may cause lives.
Why is this important?
All stakeholders should combine to become a effective pressure group, and decision makers will more likely listen to all concerns. Local news (and national Sky News) highlighted to the PM R Sunak that her 'daughter waited 7 hours at Basingstoke' and that would be after a 15 mile journey.
