38 Degrees Harrow or Taylor Swift

Our next meeting, a week today on Friday, 22nd June, coincides with Taylor Swift's concert at Wembley. Which would you prefer? Pop or politics? You don't have to pay a small fortune for a ticket to join us and you won't be surrounded by screaming teenagers. The beer's cheaper at the Oddfellows as well.
The NHS will be 70 on the 1st July. Instead of a card and a cake, this is an opportunity to discuss how it can survive at least another 70 years. More free market solutions? Or back to first Bevanite principles - absolutely free at the point of use : no dental charges or prescription costs? And what about the impact of austerity and Brexit? What about social care and our ageing society? If you want to join in a 70th anniversary march, check out the link below

Speaking of Brexit - and the government speaks of little else - I've written to the council asking for them to publish any data or assessments they have on its effects on the borough. There's a march too, on the 23rd if you oppose the way it's going. If you lean towards 'leave ', then perhaps you can get a job with Jacob Rees-Mogg's investment firm which has moved to Dublin ahead of Brexit. How reassuring! Here's the link about the march.

Locally, I've also written to the council asking for details of how they plan to divest from fossil fuel companies. I hope to update you on Friday. If like me you are a regular bus and tube user, you may like to go to the Harrow Public Transport Users Association meeting concerning our railways at Harrow Baptist Church on 9th July at 7.30 PM. Email [email protected] for info.
If you have any ideas for discussion or any campaign you wish to start, then contact me or Linda. Our emails are on the website.
Please click on the attending button if you are coming.
