St Rita's Day in Pinner

St Rita's Day in Pinner
I didn't realise until I found an old book of Saints that 38 Degrees Harrow meets on the feast of St Rita, a Catholic Saint who, among other things, had a swarm of bees emerge from her mouth at her birth without getting stung once, apparently.
Hopefully, our meeting will be more prosaic. I have no doubt that the local election results will be under review, especially as we usually see a couple of the candidates turning up.
Harrow Council's Labour administration have committed to divestment from funding in fossil fuels to help fund the local authority pension scheme. This process will not be straightforward and we can discuss its progress and hurdles.
Brexit continues to divide, alarm, distress and confuse - whichever side of the issue you happen to take. It's impact on Harrow needs to be assessed but nothing is forthcoming. Should we petition the council for a borough-wide impact assessment?
If you want to rid yourself of despair and anguish, then the event below is most certainly NOT for you. Conway Hall Ethical Society has a guest speaker, Mike Wendling, an expert on the Alt-Right and Trumpism and he will be giving a talk entitled 'Thinking on Sunday: Alt-Right – From 4chan to the White House' on 17th June as part of the Conway Hall 'Thinking on Sunday' programme. Link below for details and booking.
