Well Hello Dolly

Had she lived, Dolly the Sheep would have been 24 on our meeting day. How did you
react to the arrival of the first cloned mammal? Did you think it the beginning of a brave ewe world? Were these scientists gamboling with nature? Was humanity for the chop? OK, I'll stop now. There's a lot going on to distract us from the gloomy side of genetics. The gloomy world of politics, environmental disaster, epidemics and the local NHS for a start.

There is much food for thought on several areas of national government - the future of the BBC, HS2, the proposed 3rd runway at Heathrow and potential voting restrictions for starters.

The rain mat have put out the horrifying fires in Australia but the debate over the origins, extent and consequences of climate change continue and the UK will host COP26 in Glasgow later in the year. But will we citizens have any input?

Apparently we're all going to die of a horrible virus (again) and if the newspapers would have us believe, we might as well all dig holes in our gardens or nearest open space, lie in it ans await the inevitable. Of course, it's serious but are we the victims of press hysteria.

Back at home, we have 2 issues about our local NHS: the Pinn Medical Centre Walk-in service and developments with the local hospital. Also more info' on the Harrow Citizens' Assembly..

So join us next Saturday at the Oddfellows and raise a glass to the memory pf Dolly the Sheep. Chop! Chop! You mutton miss it!
