Tool Crime. Deserves Time.

Our Government must look strongly into the growing problem of tool theft from vans and must impose much tougher penalties on those convicted of these crimes. Not only that but I will also be looking for our Government to put stricter guidelines and laws in place for selling second hand tools.

Why is this important?

It is an increasing problem Country wide for all tradesmen and women. It takes years of hard work and a large expense to build up a tool kit and a van that enables you to earn an honest living. More and more people are being affected by this crime and it needs to be stopped. I want this petition to reach Parliament to demand new laws that impose a minimum 2 year sentence on those convicted of vandalising vans and stealing tools. Also, we need a system that ensures any victim will be reimbursed for their loss in full immediately to enable that person to carry on working.

How it will be delivered

My local MP will be taking this petition and my campaign to Parliament to be heard.

As you have probably all seen. One of my lads has had his van broken into right outside one of our projects this week. The video that I posted has reached over 80k views. That's good that it's raising that much awareness but it does make me think that if only those 80k people had signed my petition then I'd be on my way to Parliament now to argue & fight for all of us in the construction industry.

I have been interviewed by the Mirror newspaper this week and my story is being published tomorrow 26.04.2018. The campaign is making national news now which can only be a good thing.

The biggest impact for all of us after having our tools stolen is the delay in payment from our insurance companies which stops us returning to work and earning a living. I've been working very hard with a top insursnce broker and I have eradicated this problem and have a very exciting tool cover insurance policy coming very soon. We are all being made to suffer from all angles in the construction industry. This policy is there to help and lighten the burden and stress of having your tools stolen.

This link just shows a short clip of me on ITV News promoting the campaign and more importantly highlighting how serious this problem is. ITN news have contacted me this week regarding doing a full half hour programme. The more awareness that we can all keep creating then the better chance we've got of stopping this crime.

I've now joined forces with the brilliant group Builders Talk Group & the brilliant team that run it to really push this campaign forward. It's no longer just about demanding tougher sentencing and punishments, there's so much more involved now. Thank you to everyone for all of your support & let's keep this going. šŸ‘

Thank you to Mr Dave Uttley of Fix Radio at Radio News Hub, London for talking about my campaign and the work that I have done. The more awareness that can be raised and obviously the more signatures that we can get is only going to help. We do not want anyone else to lose their life like the lad in Manchester this week who was detained by two lads who suspected him of breaking into their van and stealing tools. He died in hospital the early hours of Monday morning. I ask you all to keep signing and sharing my petition and let's try to do this the right way.

Local press are becoming more interested now. Even though they are wanting to twist my story & run their own story which is causing me a constant headache they are still interested which can only be a good thing to get the coverage & message out there that all of us in the construction industry need help with the horrendous crime that is affecting us all. Over 6000 signatures now. Thank you to each & every one of you.
