1998 and onwards student loans

The focus is on recent student loans and there is no focus on the generation that were the guinea pigs for the first student loans. We are the generation that will be paying continually where other loans are written off after a set period of time. I have been paying a 15k student loan since 1998 and to date have only reduced the balance by 1k. The interest makes it impossible to pay the loan off if you are the midlum pay bracket.

Why is this important?

So far, almost 20 years payments has barely reduced any loan balance.
The 1998 era hasn't been looked at and We were the first to receive loans rather than grants. It is only just and fair that we have the same cap on how many years we are expected to pay the loan for- in line with current student loan proposals.
