20 MPH SPEED LIMIT IN LEEK TOWN CENTRE
Leek is an Ancient Market Town. Its centre is set within a Conservation Area. Pedestrians young and old, should not be frightened whilst shopping and enjoying this town's history and architecture. Peoples' health and safety is more important in the town centre than cars and heavy traffic vehicles.
Why is this important?
When Leek town centre had a roundabout and less traffic lights, vehicles were not rushing and speeding so much and there were less accidents, fatalities and pollution caused by traffic light stops and starts.
20 mph speed limit will help shops survive and help our main industry, Tourism.
Everyone should feel safe in their home town centre be it in Leek or any where else.
