A call for Calvin Harris to buy and restore The Arches, Glasgow

It's no secret that the UK's nightclubs are closing at an alarming rate with over 1700 clubs closing since 2005 including cultural mecca Fabric London and Glasgow's own The Arches.

The Arches was one of Glasgow's most successful, cultural and arts venue until it was shamefully shut down by Police Scotland and the Glasgow City Council Licensing Board in May 2015.

Since The Arches has closed down, Glasgow's alcohol and drug problems continue to exist, if not, have worsened over the past year since the venue's closure. This suggests that any drug misuse was not the fault of the venue, but rather a result of the Government's drug policy as a whole.

We in Glasgow call on Calvin Harris; Scotland's most successful and prominent musical figure to buy The Arches, and restore the venue to its past glory. Calvin made his Glasgow debut playing the venue's infamous 'Death Disco' night well over 10 years ago, so we call on him to give back to the community that helped propel him to Stardom.

Why is this important?
