We want East End Homes to consider the needs of existing residents as well as the future residents of the buildings being redeveloped on the Eric and Treby estates.
Six buildings on the Eric and Treby estates are undergoing redevelopment (Buttermere House, Coniston House, Derwent House, Loweswater House, Wentworth Mews & Windermere House). Under the redevelopment, a total of 251 new secure cycle parking spaces have been pledged.
The 251 spaces legally meet the minimum requirement for the developers to gain planning permission to construct the new units. This number was calculated solely based on the number of new-build units. There is no allocation for any of the residents of existing units. If the same standards were applied to all units there should instead be 839 cycle spaces provided. This shows a large discrepancy between what has been pledged and what will be needed for all residents post-development.
We believe that as existing residents have been and will be experiencing the disruption and disturbance of this redevelopment, they should also be able to see the benefit of it.
We’d love for you to sign this petition if you support the provision of cycle parking spaces for existing residents.

Why is this important?
Cycling is a low-cost way of getting around London. It is important to ensure that cycling is as accessible as possible. Many people also use cycling as a source of income, as delivery riders for the likes of Uber Eats and Deliveroo. For people who make a living from cycling, having access to secure bike storage means securing their livelihood.
Cycling is also by far the most sustainable form of transport. Given the challenges we are facing with the climate, it is important that the barriers to sustainable changes are reduced as much as possible.
