Afghan refugees must be sent to York

York is a UN human rights city and city of sanctuary. The people of York are known for their hospitality and welcome. Residents in York are eagerly waiting to welcome Afghan refugees to this great city; people are prepared to play their part to welcome Afghan refugees.

We request to allocate 100 families to York immediately under the government's Afghan Relocation and Assistance Policy ( ARAP) and Afghan Citizens' Resettlement Scheme (ACRS).

York's charities, residents, and civil society are prepared to roll out the red carpet for Afghan refugees, and we would want to listen to our concerns.

Why is this important?

York has a long history of accepting refugees, and York will continue to do so with pride. This chance has a significant impact on the lives of poor Afghans in need of home and safety.

We shall extend a northern welcome to these Afghans and work to demonstrate that a different future is possible in the days and years ahead, one free of war and one of peace.
