Against Carlisle Bid Levy

The solution is simple — the The Cumberland BID Company Ltd must recognise that the BID is not working for the wider business community and make the responsible decision to close it down. If the scheme is not delivering clear value, support, or fairness to the businesses funding it, then it should not continue. Rather than forcing an unwanted levy onto struggling businesses, the company should listen to those it represents, accept the concerns being raised, and bring the BID to an end in the best interests of Carlisle’s local economy.

Why is this important?

From our perspective as local businesses, we are already facing rising costs, economic pressure, and ongoing uncertainty, and the proposed BID levy only adds to that burden. Many of us feel we have not been properly listened to, and that this scheme does not reflect the day-to-day realities we face. We are the ones working hard to keep Carlisle’s economy going, yet we are being asked to pay more without clear or guaranteed benefits. This is why so many businesses are concerned and feel this proposal is unfair and out of touch with what is really needed.

Please sign the petition as your business within the BID Zone and who are liable for the levy
