Ensure Liverpool City councillors are DBS checked.
Why is this important?
After constant failures of local governance and 10 years of headline making mistakes and allegations surely now is the time to make sure that who ever is elected in 2023 in what is the biggest local election in a generation are fit and proper for the job. If you work with the public and the young and vulnerable and managing money then a basic DBS check to prove a person is fit to represent the community is a minimum. In the wake of the Caller Report and a catalogue of errors costing tax payers millions can you put in measures to help protect the people of Liverpool?
Ensuring Liverpool City Council recognises that due to the roles and responsibilities of being a councillor
It would be in the best interests members of the public that all elected members are subject to a Basic DBS Check on taking office.
This would give the public confidence that the members who represent them are held to high standards (in line with many professions), in keeping with what one would expect from those who hold public office.
