Allow microchipping of goats for kinder identification

Dear DARD please allow microchipping as a valid form of identifying our herds of goats , ear tagging is proven to cause problems such as lost tags , infected tags , and ripped apart ears when tags have become caught in fencing hedges hay racks etc, putting our animals through unnecessary pain and suffering.

Why is this important?

Goats are very smart and social creatures most are kept as pets and aside from having to tag young kids with small ears and stressing them out these tags are getting caught and are being ripped from the ear. This is very painful and stressful for the animal and leaves a very nasty open wound which can cost a lot in vets fees to have the animal returned to health and avoiding secondary infection.
Goats can be microchipped under their tail this is a one off injection no worse than them receiving their vaccinations. This can't be removed and the animal will be identifiable for life there is zero chance of them getting it caught and ripped out.
So for all those who want to see a change and help keep our 4 legged goat friends free from pain and suffering please sign and share this petition !
