Ask the Scottish Government to reject the 4-year convoy plan for the Old Military Road.
We urge the Scottish Government not to approve plans for a 4 year single lane convoy system on the Old Military Road while the engineering work is ongoing to upgrade the A83 Rest And Be Thankful.
Why is this important?
The Scottish Government recently announced plans for major engineering work to improve the A83 at the Rest & Be Thankful. The work will take around 4 years to complete during which the road will be completely closed.
Transport Scotland have proposed that for the duration of the work, the Old Military Road at Glen Croe be used for all traffic coming into and out of Argyll.
This would mean a single carriageway, operating a convoy system of traffic management, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year … for 4 years.
It is vitally important therefore that the people of Argyll & Bute make clear their opposition to this 4-year convoy plan, as this plan will affect every single part of our lives and economic wellbeing, from deterring tourists from coming, to our ability to access healthcare services in the Central Belt.
