BA redundancies

Persuade BA that this is not the time to use the pandemic as an opportunity to make 24% of their workforce redundant and the remainder to accept significantly inferior terms and conditions

Why is this important?

BA has announced plans to lay off up to 12,000 employees, despite already having suspended more than 22,000 under the UK Government's furlough scheme. This affects a huge number of long term staff.

Trade unions have described the redundancies as "an act of smash and grab opportunism", "a huge blow" and "irresponsible, dangerous and destructive". If everyone reading this signs the petition then we can show BA that now is not the time to lay off loyal staff or make the remaining ones sign inferior contracts

I have emailed the business minister (no response as yet) I have also emailed those signatories who have requested to keep in touch. I have asked them to email their respective MP’S. I understand that IAG chief executive Willie Walsh will appear before the transport committee at 10am on Monday 11th May on Parliament TV.

I am overwhelmed. Only 24 hours and already over 36,000 signatures. Thank you for your emails offering assistance and support. Let’s keep it going for a few days and I will work out a strategy to take this forward with Government and your local MP’s.
